A business analyst in Mumbai wasted Rs. 3.5 million on an internet escort service.

A senior business analyst at a multinational corporation lost Rs 3.5 lakh while looking for escort services online, and the incident occurred in MUMBAI. This past Tuesday, a 29-year-old man filed a report with the Bhoiwada police department, accusing two strangers of cheating and criminal intimidation. The issue is now being investigated by the central cyber police. The Lower Parel resident who filed the complaint said that on August 15 he had visited a friend in Andheri and, while there, used a search engine to look for escort services in Mumbai. He told police he left Andheri early in the morning and was on his way to his home in Parel when he began receiving calls from unknown numbers. When he called one of them, he received a WhatsApp message with pictures of women and asked the caller about the charges. “While talking to the caller regarding the women, I developed cold feet and decided to disconnect the WhatsApp call. I blocked the number fearing that the person would call back,” he said. According to a police officer, he once received a call from someone who demanded to know what the cop had done to a certain lady before hanging up. The caller revealed to the analyst that he had verbally harassed and mistreated the female. “When the analyst did not respond, the caller claimed the woman was going to file a police complaint against him and if he did not settle, he would be put in jail. The complainant got scared and, after bargaining, transferred Rs 1.95 lakh through an app. The caller demanded Rs 1.55 lakh more, and he transferred that amount through netbanking,” the officer said. “He went to the police later on.”
