A suspect evades police while being escorted to the Tis Hazari Court in Delhi.

AGRA: An undertrial involved in nine cases including attempt to murder, dacoity and loot escaped from police custody in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday while he was being taken to New Delhi’s Tis Hazari court to appear in ongoing case.The incident took place near Balaji temple of Shikhobad area in Firozabad district, while the cops were having dinner at 3am in a roadside eatery.Identified as Manpal Damodar, the undertrial escapee, hails from Sikandra rao, Hathras district but was apprehended and booked in Unnao district.According to SSP Unnao, Neha Pandey, “An FIR has been lodged against four constables and Sub inspector who were escorting the undertrial to New Delhi’s Tis Hazari court.””It was gross negligence on the par of cops. Though two teams of Unnao police and Firozabad are trying to find the whereabouts of the undertrial Manpal,” she said.According to police, Manpal Damodar had nine cases on him and was also wanted in a criminal case in Delhi.On Monday, three undertrial minors accused of murder, rape and drugs smuggling, hailing from Firozabad, escaped from state child observation centre.
