Posters in the Dehradun districts Kotdwar city in Uttarakhand encouraging interest in male escort employment have prompted an investigation by the Pauri Garhwal police. Posters advertising gigolo work were plastered all throughout Kotdwar, from the bus and train stations to almost every major public gathering place and even the offices of the circle officer of Kotdwar police and the city police station. A police official with knowledge of the situation told TOI, “Police were informed about the posters by residents.” The ads promised young men a daily wage of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 should they join the escort firm. We tried calling the number listed on the sign, but it was disconnected when we got there. As a result, it was subject to monitoring. Inspector Vijay Singh, the Kotdwar station house officer, verified the information, saying that the last position tracked via the number was close to the Delhi-Haryana border. âNo complaint has been received in the matter,â he informed TOI. However, authorities have opened an investigation after taking “suo-motu cognisance” of the situation. The truth about the accused’s identity will emerge shortly. Those responsible for this will be taken into custody.
