Bengaluru: Female escort poses as NGO official, extorts Rs 87,000 from man

BENGALURU: A 29-year-old man, who sought the services of a ‘female escort’ for a fee of Rs 10,000, ended up paying Rs 87,000 more after she claimed to be an NGO official and threatened to file a rape case against him.S Dinesh, a resident of Whitefield, on Friday night searched online for a female escort and contacted Afsana. Promising to pay Rs 10,000, he asked her to come home. She came by 11pm and collected Rs 10,000. But Dinesh was in for a shock when Afsana said she’s not a female escort but an NGO official. Threatening to file a rape case against him, she demanded he transfer Rs 2 lakh to her account.Dinesh called Afsana’s manager over phone and requested that he be spared. But the manager said if the matter goes to police, the settlement would go up to Rs 5 lakh and asked him to pay Rs 2 lakh. However, Dinesh managed to convince Afsana that he had only Rs 87,000 left with him and transferred it to her account before she left the house.Based on his complaint, Whitefield police arrested Afsana. They are yet to verify her claims. “She is from Delhi and is working as a female escort in Bengaluru. We’ll trace her manager too,” an official said.
