VARANASI: By bringing erstwhile alliance partner Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar on the dais at an event in Ballia, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak created ripples in political circles on Wednesday. However, Rajbhar ducked queries on the possibility of any future alliance with the BJP, but did not miss the chance to target Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Akhilesh Yadav. “SP has not won any election since Akhilesh assumed the office of its national chief,” he said sarcastically.Pathak was in Ballia district on Wednesday to attend a series of events. When he reached Rasda area to inaugurate a private hospital, Rajbhar was also present there. Pathak took Rajbhar with him on the dais of the event and they sat on adjoining chairs. On being asked by the reporters if it was the beginning of a combination for 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Pathak said, “He (Rajbhar) is my permanent friend.”Like Pathak, the SBSP chief also avoided disclosing his future plans with BJP. “Currently, I am focused on improving our own strength. How can I do it alone when even the BJP and the Congress need to build coalitions just to stand a chance in an election? Rajbhar said, “There is nothing surprising in it [Akhilesh’s retention of the office of SP chief], we will decide at the correct time, which is the 2024 election. Savdhan Yatra of our party is awakening the most backward class people regarding their rights and how the political parties are forgetting to fulfil promises for their upliftment after coming to power. Pathak, on the other hand, attacked the Congress, saying, “He said, the Congress and Rahul Gandhi are finding it difficult to get a person to make a party president.” He predicted that the Congress’s condition would worsen after the 2022 assembly elections, in which the SP ran as an SP.
