CCTV captures will be assisted by escort case specialists.

MUMBAI: Police are getting expert help to process the grainy CCTV footage showing the car used by an escort girl to allegedly dupe Mehar Singh Tanwar, the son of a BJP MP from UP, on Sunday. Tanwar (34) was allegedly robbed of Rs 1.5 lakh by the knife-wielding escort girl though the service charge had been fixed at Rs 30,000. The CCTV footage is from the camera of a five-star Santacruz hotel where Tanwar had checked in with an NRI friend. He had reportedly booked the escort service from his hotel room after choosing the girl from images shared by the agency on WhatsApp. The incident occurred just outside the hotel. “We are getting the grainy image from CCTV grabs processed to trace the car and the occupants. We have information about the escort agency which Tanwar had called. There are several loose ends in the complaint filed and we are collecting details to track the accused,” an officer at Vakola police station told TOI. Two people who had been picked up on Tuesday for questioning have been released after police ascertained that they were not connected with the incident in any way. On Wednesday TOI tried to talk to Tanwar, who left the city to attend to his hotel business in Delhi, but were unable to get through. In his complaint Tanwar mentioned, “The incident occurred between 8.56 and 9.05 pm on Sunday seconds after I and my NRI friend Giri Somaiya entered the car to fix the service charge for the woman who came to spend time with us. In order to fix the deal I asked Somaiya to step out of the car and it was then that the woman threatened me and after robbing Rs1.5 lakh pushed me out of the car close to the hotel lobby before she and the driver sped away.” The son of the BJP MP from Amroha, Tanwar, had reached Mumbai on Sunday at 2.45 pm and checked into the hotel along with Somaiya around 4 pm. At 4.10 pm, Tanwar told Somaiya that they should spend the night at a club and suggested that they get an escort girl to accompany them. “Somaiya then provided the escort agency number who, when contacted, shared the pictures of the escort girls for them to share so that a deal could be fixed,” said investigators.
