LUCKNOW: Three policemen escorting Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia were injured when the their vehicle was hit by a truck in Ghaziabad on Sunday morning. Elsewhere, two brothers were crushed to death by an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus in Khiri on Sunday while five persons lost their lives in another mishap in Mainpuri on Saturday.The Ghaziabad incident took place on Sunday morning when the police escort vehicle (UP 14 AG 0135) collided with a truck (HR 38L 4496) near Lal Kuan area under Kavinagar police station in Ghaziabad. The jeep was attached to the fleet of Togadia who on the move in UP on Sunday. Four of the five policemen occupying the vehicle were injured.While constables Ram Niwas and Manoj were critically wounded and had to be admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Ghaziabad, their colleagues Rajesh Babu and Ved Pal Singh were discharged after being administered with first-aide as their injuries were not that serious. A case was lodged with the Kavinagar police. Another police escort vehicle with armed cops was attached to the fleet of Togadia for onward movement.In another incident reported from Khiri district on Sunday, two brothers identified as Jagdish and Vinod, sons of Jaijairam of Harnkhurd locality under Pasgawan police station were crushed to death by a UPSRTC bus near Jangbahadur canal bridge on the outskirts of their village. The bus driver sped away from the site of mishap. A case was lodged against an unidentified driver and bus of the Roadways with the Pasgawan police.In Mainpuri, all seven occupants of a vehicle (UP 82 C 7905) were critically wounded when the vehicle collided with a truck (UP 14 K 6536) on Etah-Kannauj highway near Mankapur village under Bewar police station on the outskirts of the district. All the seven victims were rushed to the Mainpuri district Hospital, where five of them succumbed while the remaining two were undergoing treatment.The deceased were identified as Ram Prakash of Farrukhabad, Kalyan Singh of Kannauj, Sangeeta of Dudhaina and Nilesh of Bhogaon in Mainpuri and a teenaged girl Saroj from Kashiram Nagar. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Condition of the remaining two victims was critical.
