Escort officers’ proposal to restore industry

LUCKNOW: The administration is now preparing to resurrect the idea in the state ten years after the ambitious escort officer scheme of the UP Industrial Development Department failed to make waves. It seems that the choice will have two purposes. The revival may come as a welcome move to boost the state’s image, but if implemented in its original avatar, experts fear that the scheme could repeat history and turn out to be a dud scheme once again.Head of the UP state office of CII, Anil Shukla, said: “The escort service is a good scheme. But in order to attract business to the state, the UP government must also take a bold approach. Only then will this program be a success. Although the program was first introduced in 2000, industrial penetration in UP has slowly decreased, and some existing facilities have even closed their doors in the state.
