Expulsion of Viresh Borkar from the House of Representatives.

PORVORIM: RG MLA Viresh Borkar made a scene in the House well during Thursday’s debate on the Mhadei problem, prompting speaker Ramesh Tawadkar to have him removed. Borkar wanted to read a letter he sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Mhadei problem in the legislature. However, this was not permitted because Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte objected that the allotted time should not be “wasted” on reading a pre-written letter. The minutes before Borkar was hauled out were a tumultuous mix of arguing between the government and opposition parties. The governing party started protesting Borkar after the RGP MLA apologized to the Supreme Court for bringing up a pending legal case at the outset of his speech. Khaunte raised an objection, saying, “The executive has a role to play.” Anyone who wants to apologize should take a seat immediately. Let us not make politics out of this. In addition, we would want to make our voices heard. We have opened up debate under Rule 64, and the House’s decision is final. Pramod Sawant, the city’s top executive, replied, “If you are afraid, you can leave; we will discuss the issue.”
