Maneka Gambhir, the sister-in-law of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, was asked to appear at the Enforcement Directorate’s office at the CGO complex in Salt Lake City on Monday after being denied immigration permission to fly to Bangkok on Saturday. Gambhir arrived at Kolkata airport between 6.30 and 7 pm in order to board a 9 pm IndiGo aircraft to Bangkok. She had previously been questioned by the central agency in relation to the coal scam case. She was nonetheless detained at the immigration desk and led into a room. At the immigration counter, a source claims that an ED alert appeared against her name. After that, immigration officers got in touch with Delhi-based ED officers. Afterwards, the latter contacted an officer in Kolkata, who hurried to the airport. According to sources, the officer arrived there at about 10 p.m. and informed the woman that she was unable to leave the country. Additionally, she received a notice to appear Monday before the ED in Salt Lake. At around 11:00 p.m., she was permitted to depart the airport.
