First time Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar departs Raj Bhavan with CRP escort

On Tuesday, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar left Raj Bhavan for the first time accompanied by the CRPF. On the route to Santipur, his convoy consisted of six automobiles. Following the pilot car was the governor’s vehicle, followed by escort cars of state police and CRPF, a reserve car, and a trail car. There were seven vehicles in the governor’s convoy until Monday, one of which was an interception car driven by the Kolkata Police. As of Wednesday, however, the convoy will presumably consist of four vehicles, as the CRPF has assumed responsibility for the security of the inner circuit. While the pilot car maps the route, the escort car is responsible for the governor’s security. Kolkata Police will provide outer ring security.Previously, Dhankhar had informed Union home minister Amit Shah of his insecurity after being surrounded on Jadavpur University campus in September, while attempting to rescue Union minister Babool Supriya, who was allegedly jeered for hours. The Union home ministry assigned him CRPF protection and decided to provide him with Z-level security. Now, 28 CRPF personnel have been assigned to his protection. The PSO (personal security officer) who accompanied the governor on Tuesday was from the CRPF, according to S Raveendran, IG, CRPF. Typically, the PSO rides in the front passenger compartment of the same vehicle as the governor and the aide-de-camp. Until now, the PSO was a Kolkata Police inspector.
