Director general of police (DGP) Jaspal Singh held a meeting on Monday to discuss security arrangements and traffic management for the FIFA under-17 Women’s World Cup in Goa. During the meeting at the police headquarters with the inspector general of police (IGP), superintendent of police (SP), south, SP security and SP traffic, the DGP also discussed the movement plan of participating teams to and from the stadium. The DGP directed the IGP to ensure that each police officer deployed on the duty is adequately briefed and understands the nature of his or her assignment. Since it is an international occasion, he said, the Goa police must demonstrate their professionalism and adhere to standard security procedures. The training of personnel who will serve as attendants was also discussed.Singh instructed the traffic unit to ensure that the teams’ passage is unimpeded and that no obstructions are created. Places for parking have been identified, and their adequacy in relation to the anticipated number of vehicles can be determined, he said.Singh also directed SP traffic to issue a traffic advisory so that the general public is not inconvenienced on match days. The Goa police have also resolved to ask the government to provide an adequate number of vehicles for escorting the teams and officials.
