Indian film-obsessed woman commits herself after being blackmailed

Police in Amboli, Mumbai, are probing the suicide of a lady they say was blackmailed by four men posing as NCB officials. The woman had resorted to escort work after failing to make it in Hollywood’s film business. The police said the lady is from West Bengal and aspires to be an actor in movies. Suraj Pardeshi (38), Pravin Walinbe (35), and their accomplices threatened to investigate her role in an escort service and demanded Rs20 lakh from her before she was found hanging in her apartment three days later. Meanwhile, minister Nawab Malik tweeted that the local police should investigate whether those arrested are part of a “private army” of the NCB. The police have said that they are investigating the possibility of a connection between the gang and the government.
