Manjhiâs escort vehicle driver held for boozing

PATNA: Police on Sunday arrested Omprakash Paswan (45), the driver of former CM Jitan Ram Manjhiâs escort vehicle, in an inebriated condition. Paswan is a driver constable of state police. He was arrested near MIG Colony in Hanuman Nagar under the Patrakarnagar police station area in the city.Patrakar Nagar police station SHO Sanjeet Kumar Sinha said Paswan was driving the escort vehicle when a police officer noticed that he was not driving properly.“Paswan continued rash driving even after he was warned and this raised suspicion. The officer informed seniors and during breathalyser test, alcohol was found in his body,” the SHO said and added that Paswan had consumed liquor in the morning. Sinha said Manjhi was scheduled to go to Jehanabad from MIG Colony on Sunday and his escort vehicle was coming from his official residence.Police sources said Paswan was a habitual drinker and regularly consumed liquor despite prohibition in the state. He was later forwarded to jail.
