MP’s son was abducted by his escort.

MUMBAI: A 23-year-old escort was arrested for allegedly robbing Mehar Singh Tanwar (34), the son of a BJP MP, last Sunday at the lobby of a Santacruz hotel. The woman was arrested from her Virar residence on Friday. According to a source, the woman, along with escort agency owner Ashok Prasad, was picked up earlier too but was let off after questioning. TOI was the first to report on August 19 that the police had picked up two members of the escort agency soon after the alleged crime. The two have been remanded in police custody till August 24. The woman, who is a graduate from Mumbai University, had been trying for an opportunity in Bollywood and television industry. “But after failing to get into the industry, she joined the Vakola-based escort agency a year ago to earn fast money. The agency has been operational in the city since a couple of years,” said a police officer, requesting anonymity. During investigation, the police also found out that the woman had provided forged address documents to procure a SIM card. Her SIM card documents had led the police to a Navy Nagar hostel in Colaba while the woman stays in Virar. The police are awaiting details of Prasadâs account to investigate the agencyâs money transactions and to ascertain whether it is part of a bigger racket. Meanwhile, Tanwar told TOI on Friday via SMS that finally the accused had admitted to having sought money from his NRI friend. “It was a planned robbery under the escort service garb. As I said before, this is big racket in Mumbai. Now that the police have arrested everyone, the truth will be out. Later, the accused will admit to the crime,” he said. Police commissioner Rakesh Maria said, “Itâs a lesson for all youngsters seeking to enter the glamour world. Unscrupulous elements prey on their unfulfilled ambitions and gullibility.”
