RAJAHMUNDRY: The police seized a large cache of cash of over Rs 10 crore and about 10 kgs of gold in three separate incidents in East and West Godavari districts on Friday. About 10 kilograms of gold and Rs 5.65 crore was seized in East Godavari district while Rs 4.76 crore and 352 grams of gold was seized in West Godavari district. In the these incidents, cash and gold were being carried in different buses belonging to a private travels company.The police have seized 10 kilograms of gold as well as Rs 5.65 crore from two private travel buses at Krishnavaram toll plaza in Jaggampeta mandal of East Godavari district. According to Peddapuram DSP A Srinivasa Rao, a bus belonging to Padmavati Travels was intercepted and checked. The bus was moving from Vijayawada to Palasa via Vizag, Narasannapet and Tekkali and traders planned to despatch gold and cash to various centres. The police have identified Ramesh and Ganesh as the owners of the property. The accused belong to One Town area of Vijayawada. The police will handover the seized cash and gold to the Income Tax department and the GST department. In another incident, the police have seized cash of Rs 4.76 crore and 352.892 grams of gold from a private bus in West Godavari district. West Godavari SP Rahul Dev Sharma said on credible information, the police conducted vehicle checking at Veeravalli toll plaza at Ananthapalli village of Nallajerla mandal in West Godavari. While checking the vehicles at 5 am, the police stopped a bus belonging to Padmavati Travels and another three cars which were escorting the bus. The police seized the cash and gold from the buses. The police arrested bus driver Majji Srinivas and seven others including those in the escort cars. They did not produce any bills for the money and gold.
