RPF and RPSF personnel at Patna Jn will combat the post-Chhath influx.

PATNA: Railways has deployed 125 RPF and RPSF personnel at Patna Junction to tackle post-Chhath rush and ensure easy movement for passengers on the station premises.According to Danapur RPF senior commandant Prakash Kumar Panda, railways has deployed RPF personnel in the Patna Junction circulating area on the Mahavir temple side to regulate huge traffic movements. Railways will continue monitoring post-Chhath rush at Patna Junction till November 13, he said, adding RPF personnel, including women, have been deployed on round-the-clock duty at each platform and foot overbridge (FOB) of Patna Junction.Senior RPF and GRP officials are personally monitoring movements at Patna Junction through CCTV cameras. The mini control room has been linked to railway hotline to help in any emergency situation immediately. Railways is facing an uphill task to deal with the situation post-Chhath when 30 pairs of special passenger trains are either originating from or passing through Patna Junction daily in addition to 260 other regular mail and express trains passing through the station every day, Panda said.The Danapur division has got additional security forces from the ECR headquarters and other zonal railways for Patna Junction, Patliputra Junction and Danapur station. Railways has deployed 40 RPF personnel at Rajendra Nagar Terminal and 10 at Patliputra Junction from where most of the long-distance and special passenger trains originating daily to cope up with the rush, he said.According to Panda, RPF personnel have set up ‘May I Help You’ booth at both Mahavir temple and Karbigahiya end of Patna Junction to help elderly and sick passengers. RPF women are taking care of women passengers and guide them to trains conveniently, he said.Besides, RPF teams have been getting numerous calls from passengers on the helpline number 139 to get either medical help or personal escort to them during journey, Panda said.
