On Tuesday night, while he was in the barracks of the B division police station with his coworkers, a constable assigned to the state reserve police (SRP) unit in Gondal who had been deputed to Rajkot for a VIP bandobast opened fire with his service rifle, according to the police. Constable Ramesh Koli was charged under IPC section 286 (act endangering human life using explosives). In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival on Wednesday, additional personnel from other districts were stationed in the city on Tuesday for security reasons. A team of SRP from Gondal was also a part of the same security arrangement. They received housing at the Kuvadva Road and B Division police stations. The B Division police station’s top floor was handed to about 25 SRP Gondal unit jawans as housing. On Tuesday morning, Koli was given the responsibility of accompanying Gordhan Zadafiya’s squad. According to the authorities, Koli unexpectedly shot one bullet into the barrack ceiling when he and the others were sleeping. Koli is thought to have been tense for various personal reasons. Before telling the police, his friends seized Koli’s weapon from him and removed the rounds. According to authorities, Koli was given the gun and 20 bullets.
