New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday granted Preeti Chandra, the wife of jailed Unitech promoter Sanjay Chandra, permission to leave jail for one day between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., under police escort, to attend her grandmother’s last rites, but she was prohibited from using a phone or other electronic communication device while she was out. Additional Solicitor General Madhavi Divan argued against bail, citing the fact that Preeti Chandra had just obtained Dominican citizenship, a country with which India does not have an extradition treaty.
