The suspect in the gang rape case runs away from the cops.

SURAT: In a major embarrassment for cops, a 28-year-old man accused of gangrape escaped from custody right outside Pandesara police station on Monday.Accused Ramchandra alias Ram Pradhan pushed away the cops, who were escorting him to the court, and ran away.Pradhan, a resident of Bamroli Road and native of Odisha, was arrested on Sunday for alleged kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl with learning disability. The minor had gone missing on July 21 from her house where she lived with her grandparents. Her grandfather runs a sweet shop. Her father was no more and her mother had married again. After Pradhan’s arrest, investigation revealed that he along with three other minor boys had allegedly raped the girl. “Exact details of the crime are still not available. He escaped from the police station by pushing the cops when he was being taken to court in a van,” said A P Chaudhary, police inspector, Pandesara police station.
