Tiger assaults result in deaths of 3 females

On Wednesday, tigers attacked and murdered three women in the Bhadravati, Sindewahi, and Saoli ranges near Chandrapur. They were all out in the woods gathering tendu leaves and hay for the cattle. One Sita Chouke, aged 63, of Kokewada village, had gone with other ladies to the morning survey no. 34 in the revenue forest in the Navegaon round of the Sindewahi range. She was murdered by a tiger while she gathered tendu leaves. The second incidence included the murder of a lady in the Chaprala beat of Bhadravati range, in the region under Ordnance Factory Chanda. The unidentified lady was also collecting tendu leaves when she was attacked by the tiger and murdered instantaneously. Nirphranda villager Rama Aadku Marbate, 70, was murdered by a tiger while in the jungle gathering fodder for her livestock. jungle authorities have heightened vigilance in the region and set up video traps to identify the tigers. Two more people were killed by predators on Wednesday, bringing the total number of fatalities from assaults this year to 17. Records show that 14 people were murdered by tigers, 2 by leopards, and 1 by an elephant. Thirty-one persons were murdered by predators in the area last year.
